Challenge

This project had me design changes without being able to interview users first and use analytics to guide further updates after the redesign.

Process

Research & Analysis: There was no quick way to get research from any users qualified for feedback, partially because the website was so outdated it was better to start with a redesign.

The Good: Since I was starting from scratch, I was able to guide the organization in how they wanted their mission to be portrayed. This made the design work flow smoothly.

The Bad: The old site was very outdated. The audio clips for the messages and the images were low quality, and the site often had outdated information.

The Fix: A full redesign with professional pictures, audio, and a cohesive branding.

Redesign: To start I wanted to get a better idea of the organization. I tried to understand the necessary features: a pleasing design, with the potential to live stream later. I chose a font that I thought conveyed the brand well and decided to go with a blue theme to increase trust and showed the organization's history. I used Squarespace for the new site and came up with a design I thought worked well. The most important information and features were added, including when the organization meets, its values, ministries, and contact information. The messages and online giving is coming soon.

Usability Testing: Planning includes conducting surveys and usability testing to get a broad and in-depth look at how users like the site.

Analytics: In the near future, I will optimize SEO and enable analytics to enable the organization to use that information to grow in the future.

Reflection

This project gave me a good understanding of typography and analytics and how they can be used to improve the experience and help market and brand the website. By strengthening the brand I was able to create more trust in the organization and its mission.
